Great spot in all seasons.
Convenient for travelers, hang with the locals. Great baked goods, nice sandwiches and soups at lunch. Nice deck in fine weather, gets great morning light in winter for a cup of coffee or tea and a scone. Friendly, community-minded owners. I live here and go as often as possible.
Jodi and Phil have created that sense of “ownership” among everyone who patronizes August First, and that’s part of the magic – it’s not just another cafe, it’s a place you feel you belong.
Good grief what a bakery.
Looks like an old auto garage but right off Main Street. When you come in you see the bakery…and these gorgeous breads and scones. Wow. Coffee. A chalkboard of breakfast sandwiches and lunch sandwiches. Had a great maple syrup biscuit, orange chocolate scone, and deli sandwiches are good.
